The right product for your needs
From casing, tubing and coupling stock to line pipe, Cantak Corp. is focused on the optimum quality and suitability for each application. Our customers want the best – and that’s what we provide. Cantak draws from a basket of high-quality manufacturers, chosen for their proven reliability and competitiveness over the long term. Our passion for supplying high-quality energy tubulars to meet today’s harsh and demanding conditions means Cantak is in it for the long haul.
Line pipe carries the energy industry’s lifeblood to market. It’s not a product whose quality can be compromised. With more than 60 years in the business, Cantak understands the harsh conditions of the Canadian landscape, and the demands put on line pipe to be safe and reliable over a long service life.
TRANSMISSION AND GATHERING LINES
Cantak Corporation supplies a full range of high-quality welded line pipe for oil and gas transmission and distribution, meeting North America’s energy needs reliably and efficiently. Conventional grades from X52 (Grade 359), high-pressure grades up to X80 (Grade 550) and higher (X100/X120) are available from a number of suppliers.
Today’s cutting-edge extraction methods such as steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) require line pipe of stringent quality and chemistry. Industry standards are updated frequently to ensure reliability and safety in this fast-growing sector. Our mills have the experience and the expertise to produce high-quality line pipe material for diluent, emulsion, bitumen and steam distribution.
Line pipe designed to carry oil or natural gas containing hydrogen sulphide (H2S) — known as sour gas — may be subject to corrosion. Our manufacturers are experienced in providing material with resistance to SSCC (Sulphide Stress Corrosion Cracking) and HIC (Hydrogen Induced Cracking), and Cantak has been a leader in the supply of sour service line pipe in the Canadian market.
Tailings pipe is subjected to constant assault from within. From chemical corrosion to erosion caused by abrasive solids within the tailings liquid, many factors contribute to wall thinning and the need for regular replacement of pipes and connections. Cantak knows what it takes to choose the right tailings pipe for optimum service life.
As the oil and gas industry has moved into more challenging extraction scenarios, the demands on tubulars and casing have become increasingly rigorous. Whether the demand is from high pressure, thermal stresses or environmental factors, Cantak knows what it takes to meet the needs of today’s energy sector.
HIGH PRESSURE FRACKING
More than half of all new oil and gas wells worldwide today are hydraulically fractured. The technique offers access to vast reserves of energy that could not be extracted using conventional methods. But it also puts significant demands on materials and has increased the need for higher grades and specialty connections. Cantak has adapted to the changes that have come with the growth of fracking, and our people instinctively understand what it takes to get the job done.
Processes such as steam-assisted gravity drainage (SAGD) and other in-situ heavy oil applications are prone to developing intense thermal loads. Casing and tubing require specialized connections to withstand these thermal stresses and provide consistent and proven performance in the field. Cantak works constantly with our clients to pinpoint the required performance at a reasonable cost to the end-user.
Exposure to hydrogen sulphide (H2S) in much of the Canadian oil and gas production sector requires clean steel and rigorous quality standards to guard against breakdown in a highly corrosive environment. Cantak works with a number of manufacturers with extensive history in the supply of sour service materials to the global market.
Wells are drilled deeper and in more demanding conditions than ever. Connections are a critical component of today’s drilling and completion solutions, and Cantak has a full suite of semi-premium and premium connections to meet all of our customers’ requirements. Matching the right pipe to the right connection is where Cantak provides value to each client’s operations.
